Diploma in Supervision

Supervision & Superv'n training

This 8 day course will teach the basic theory and skills of supervision.

Participants will have the opportunity to supervise through role-play and exercises. The emphasis will be on active participation and learning in an enjoyable, safe and supportive environment. Participants will learn the relevant theory of supervision from a range of models, and apply the theory to the experiential exercises.

Training days consist of a combination of theory teaching and opportunities for live practice. Theory topics include:

  • Ethics and practice of supervision
  • Developmental levels of supervision
  • Models of supervision
  • The supervisory relationship
  • Transference and counter-transference in supervision
  • Emergency situations in supervision
  • Supervision within organisations
  • Supervision of groups, teams/staff


This course is open to counsellors or psychotherapists who have at least 3 years experience as a practitioner post qualification and who are interested in becoming a supervisor.

Dates: 2012: October 3rd 17th November 7th 21st December 5th
2013; January 9th, 23rd February 6th
(All Wednesdays)

Fee: £800 (may be paid in instalments of 8 x £100)
